7 Day Disabled List: A Case Study
The MLB(major league baseball) has a protocol for concussions that goes with a new disable list(7 day DL). I believe that the new protocol and the new 7 day disabled list is the right protocol for the players and coaches to have that is mandatory from the league. The first reason why the new 7 day disabled list helps with concussions because it will help the doctors to diagnose the injury correctly. Another reason the 7 day disabled list is just right because its aim was to get the athlete cleared or prevent going back into competition to early. Lastly the 7 day disabled list is working to protect the athletes health overall and educating the athletic trainers,coaches, players, etc.. about concussions. The new 7 day disabled list that the MLB made up is for athletes safety and well being. From Foxsports(2012, June 14) Fox Sports MLB says that the main goal for the 7 day disabled list has improve the athletes staying safe and lowering the chances of brain injury. I believe that it’s perfect timing for the MLB to have this because it improving the athlete's safety while playing. The Major League Baseball player association on March 29,2011 saying that they are focusing on player long term effects on players that had concussions. Aaron Hill a member of the Toronto Blue Jays was interviewed about the new concussion protocol. He says that “he is happy that they are researching about concussions for athletes. Just not in baseball, but all sports.” I am glad as an athlete that people are looking after me and wanting to help me to help my team to win game and titles.
