6.6 Explain How Citizenship Work
HOW DOES SPONSORSHIP WORK?
6. To get a licence, you must apply to us, supplying specified documents to prove that you are suitable and eligible. These documents are listed in Appendix A which is separate to this guidance booklet. We will carry out appropriate checks before deciding whether to grant you a licence. We may refuse your application if there is anything in your history or your Key Personnel’s (see paragraphs 86-120) history that suggests you could be a threat to immigration control or that you would be unable or unwilling to carry out your duties as a licensed sponsor. 7. We consider an application to join the sponsor register by assessing whether you meet the requirements below. You must:

20. Applications for a licence can only be made and paid for online, using the online sponsor application on our website. You must read these guidance notes carefully before applying. In particular you should read the sections that apply to the Tiers and categories for which you wish to apply. Appendix A sets out the documentary evidence that you will be required to send to us to validate your application.

21. You must make the application yourself. Whilst a representative may help you to complete your application, they must not submit the application on your behalf. If we find during the consideration of your application that a representative has submitted it on your behalf, we will refuse your application and your fee will not be refunded.

22. Once you have submitted your online application, you must then send in all of the following to validate your application. A valid application must:
a) contain the original submission sheet (not a certified copy), which has been signed and dated by the authorising officer (all pages must be sent); and
b) contain all of the documents listed on the submission sheet as mandatory documents
(originals or certified copies);
