“5 Top Qualities Making a Successful Politician”.
Throughout history icons in politics emerge in each era that define that time, men who define the thinking, technology, culture, religion, and every other aspect of that time period. Nowadays there are a lot of politicians. Some of them are successful the others are not. I will try to list five top qualities making a successful politician.
First of all a successful politician should never lose his temper, never make an important decision when he is angry. He should weigh the pros and cons, then make up his mind.
Then when something is decided it’s necessary to stay on a course and never waver it. As well as this it’s always helpful to see the other side simultaneously.
There’s a natural tendency for the media to focus on perceived personality because this is a way of describing and labelling individuals. There’s also a Darwinian culture in politics that assumes ‘the best will succeed’ – politicians will do well because of who they are and their innate qualities rather than the support or opportunities they are given. Clearly politicians require skills, but the reasons why politicians don’t engage in training and development are fascinating in their own right. So the so called ‘cult of personality’ also take place in the list.
No doubt it is very important for a politician to be a good public speaker. It’s even possible to win the elections with a single sentence in the speech.
The last one but not the least is that a successful politician should know how to rule the public opinion which is very fickle. To do that he can gain knowledge from the experience of the ancestors.
To my mind these are the top qualities of a successful

Outstanding leaders are often those who display distinguishing charactoristics of true statesmanship. They are not people who are arrogant enough to believe that they know everything about any one subject but instead, are humble and studious. Great leaders set clear cut and realistic goals. They are the kind of people who can see the big picture and scope out a path to get there, never waivering, with great confidence, they lead the way. They are not always the charming type but instead have a way about them of convincing others to join them or to understand their philosophy of the given situation. They are often likeable and seemingly outgoing. Usually great orators, however, not always the perfect writers, such as George Washington and not always with a loud enough voice, such as Patrick Henry.…

In history, the main reason why a nation prospers is because of its leader. The best written piece I have come across on this topic is Niccolo Machiavelli's book, "The Prince". A leader should be intelligent, strong, caring and devoted to his subjects. Although people have different opinions in the qualities of a good ruler, all believe that a leader should help his nation grow and thrive.…

Over the years I’ve witnessed to some gifted public speakers. People like Ted Kennedy (yes I’m met him a few times) who had a power and forcefulness to his voice that painted mental imagery so strong you would swear you can see his words. John Bingham from Runner Magazine, he had jokes, but could captivate his audience through a shared passion that made strangers feel like they knew each other. Retired Chief Terry Savoie who delivered a speak at an awards banquet with the slogan “life ain’t fair…win anyway”. All three of these people had one thing in common, a message. They had the ability to deliver a message to their audience. Their vision became yours. You could see the images they described like a paint hanging in a museum, beautiful and…

Speeches throughout history have inspired many to do good and bad. Political figures are expected to be some of the best speakers in the world and are expected to deliver speeches quite frequently. Some are better than others and some speeches are more inspiring than others, some speeches are a lot better than others, and some are just historical. Ronald Reagan was a popular president and he was considered a very good speaker. His Address to the Nation on Challenger is one of his better and well known speeches, the speech addressed the nation during a time of agony.…

Professor Ricchiuto, J., (August 13, 2011) lecture during residency on Executive Communication on topic Political Savvy in Organization was an eye opener for me. One of the most powerful but often overlooked skills that a Leader needs is Political Competence. Whether to sustain in an Organization or to successfully get things done, a good leader must understand what others have in their minds, whom to approach and how to influence and build consensus from others. The know-how of what-to-say, what-not-to-say and how to execute also matters. It is a skill that requires high social awareness, capacity to connect and convince people.…
