5 Reasons Why I Feel Jealous of My Friend – IT Guy from Nix Solutions

The major goal of each adult is to get on well in life. I seem to cope with the task. I have started a sole proprietorship and work for myself full time. I don’t feel like rich as Croesus, though I can afford many things. You can call me a middle-class man, if you wish. Though, this class is practically nonexistent in Ukraine. I have a friend, an IT-specialist, who doesn’t hit the rows of upper class, but I often feel jealous of his job – in spite of the fact that he works for the man – the Nix Solutions Ltd. He was hired as a McJob, or a helpdesk analyst. Than his career developed very quickly and soon he became a Senior developer, or as they call it – a Fat cat. High Salary, Pleasant Office Environment, Clear-Cut Regulation

My friend works 40-hour workweek. Overtime work is possible only on his will and is awarded by salary increase. He always has a possibility to plan either a working day or a week. That is why he always keeps tight to his promises. He has 4-5- close friends among Nix Solutions’ staff. He acquainted me with these nice guys, and we used to have a good time together. Besides, he has about 10 colleges that may easily join us at countryside BBQ. In general, the office environment is rather pleasant and suggest spending with colleges either leisure or work time. No need to speak about money. Ukrainian IT-specialists are referred to those professional category that would not come cheap and can raise capital for a year (by the way, he works in the company 6 years).

My working day is not scheduled. Sometimes I start at 11 a.m. and finish at 16 p.m. But I also have “shift” beginning at 7 a.m. and keeping to continue at 20 p.m. My salary fully depends on my productivity and the number o units sold without taking office environment in account. My “cry babies”, I mean clients, partners, and customers are not always nice. You know, rich man's joke is always funny!

This wishful thought is certainly something I have thought of growing up in a working middle class family. ‘That’s what being in the working class is all about-how to get out of it’ Neville Wran said. I think it is only human nature to want a more comfortable life and thus there is some truth in what Wran says.…

Socio-economic class and all that it entails are also related to my social identity and how I communicate. My family and I would be considered middle class. I met my best friend Jasur back in May 2010. He was a student in UIS, basically an International student which means he has more laws and regulations living with him compared to legal residents or citizens. Because he was struggling financially, he got a job at the mall at phone case kiosks to be a salesperson. After he started that job, his boss took him into his complete control. He was given about 60 hours of work schedule each week and was paid less, he was forced to stay until twelve in the morning packing or counting the shipments sometimes, and his boss was also using vulgar language towards him whenever he was there. My friend became very slow with his school getting his school work done, and he was…

In my new school I study hard to complete with all my fellow classmates who come from all walks of life but most are from rich background. They have all that I have ever wanted in my life but fail to get. They can buy branded shoes and clothes, unlike my worn out Bata. They afford the latest handphones brands with the latest technology but me? There is nothing I could do to be on par with them. So, I just let them show off their fancy gadgets without feeling remorse with the fact that I am only an ordinary student coming from a family clerk. I just feel sad that they act as if I do not have feelings. I do not feel the least discourage since I know that I can also be like them one day if I work hard enough to score in my SPM exam.…
