5 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Children Do Analysis
I consider technology to be one of the greatest advancements we have ever made. We

as a society have the opportunity to grow and learn more than we ever dreamed of learning. We

can have a safer life because of it, better medical advancements, a whole new world is created

by technology. But it also has taken over society. I think we once had control of technology, but

now technology seems to be controlling us more. And it only took less than 10 years for it to

happen.

Right now, every 7 year olds and their mothers more than likely has a smartphone, or at

least some kind of small supercomputer in their pockets, or in the household. That smartphone

can be used as a tool to help the child learn. You can surf the web for countless amounts of

information.

I think we’re becoming more reliant on

technology. Kids are learning to let technology do everything for them, which includes thinking

for them. They will grow up, worrying more about breaking their Iphone than getting good

grades. They will spend thousands of dollars on the newest phone or watch. They will worry

more about becoming famous on the internet than war in another country.

The video “5 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Children Do” presented the idea

that kids should learn by experience. That they should go out and explore, be curious, be free. I

see a future where kids will no longer think for themselves the way their grandparents used to.

With the advancement of technology comes more knowledge. Yes, kids do learn how to do

things, but it’s not the same. The future looks like a world where technology will completely

control us. We will be consumed by the idea of that next gen phone that’s coming out, but care

nothing for politics. They won’t be critical thinkers, they’ll just let their phone be the critical

thinker.

I’m not trying to say technology is the devil, but it can become that. I’m just stating

Some members of Generation Me may be abusing technology, by constantly using it. When these teenagers are constantly on their phones, they are not gaining any in-person communication skills. They are also ignoring the people next to them by always being on their phones. “When we’re not watching TV, we’re on the Internet, sometimes on traditional new offshoots like cnn.com but other times trolling through places where we have to wear our skepticism cap at every moment”.…

When observing society, it is almost impossible to find a single person who does not some sort of technology. This is not a bad thing but rather a way of showing how the 21st century is evolving and relies on technology more than anything else. It is quite fascinating to compare life in the past to the life that is lived today and, furthermore, the life that will be lived fifty years from now. For example, typewriters could be compared to a modern day computer, lap top, or, even more recent, an I Pad. Based on the technological advancements made in the past ten years, life in the future could be something similar to that of Panem, the capitol in The Hunger Games. The skyrocketing of cell phone usage and the reliability on electricity are two factors that show big steps toward the future.…

Technology can be regarded as a phenomenon with vast uncertainties. Technological change is rapid and we are struggling to keep up to date with the latest advances, while learning new ones and trying to prepare for the next changes proposed for the future. In order to do so, however, we need to be clear about what we mean, and what we consider to be a technology and evaluate some of the assumptions of our understanding of our technologically advanced society.…

“Should I buy my teenage daughter a cell phone?” That is a question that many parents ask themselves at one point in their child’s life. Ask my child directly about why she should have a cell phone, and you are likely to receive one of these responses: “I feel like a nobody without one,” or, “Because I’m the only kid in class who doesn’t have a cell phone.” Even my parents agree that the “little princess” must receive a cell phone. In order to determine if my daughter should receive a cell phone, we must identify the players in this scene: a decision maker, a beneficiary, a facilitator, and an accommodator, and discuss their motives. Only then can we justify purchasing a cell phone for my teenage daughter.…

From what Mr. Tulley said I think that the most beneficial dangerous things that you should let a child experience are playing with fire, throwing spears, and taking apart appliances. I think these three are the most important because, like I already said before, when playing with fire the child learns how it works and how they can contain and control one of lives greatest influences. I chose throwing spears because humans are made to throw objects, and when children throw things it helps…

Welcome to "Five Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Children Do." I don't have children. I borrow my friends' children, so (Laughter) take all this advice with a grain of salt.I'm Gever Tulley. I'm a contract computer scientist by trade, but I'm the founder of something called the Tinkering School. It's a summer program which aims to help kids to learn how to build the things that they think of. So we build a lot of things. And I do put power tools into the hands of second-graders. So if you're thinking about sending your kid to Tinkering School, they do come back bruised, scraped and bloody. So, you know, we live in a worldthat's subjected to ever more stringent child safety regulations. There doesn't seem to be any limit on how crazy child safety regulations can get. We put suffocation warnings on all the -- on every piece of plastic film manufactured in the United States or for sale with an item in the United States. We put warnings on coffee cups to tell us that the contents may be hot. And we seem to think that any item sharper than a golf ball is too sharp for children under the age of 10.…
