What is outsourcing? Outsourcing is a practice used by many different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside supplies rather than completing it internally. You may be asking yourself “why should I care”, “how does this have anything to do with me”. Well when you buy a new pre-paid cell phone, in order to activate it you must call the one eight hundred number on the back, should you be surprised to know that most of the respondent’s is of Indian ethnicity? In fact almost all of our technological based problems are solved by other ethnic based community’s. How does outsourcing affect the American people? Should we as a country support it?
Thomas L. Friedman’s article “30 little turtles” Friedman shows favoritism towards the adolescent adults, of the Indian community, outsourcing, more networked, geopolitics, and how he believes it to make the world more prosperous. However he doesn’t consider the consequences of how this outsourcing impacts the American people. Friedman‘s description of the young Indian community preparing for their call center jobs is a glimpse into how new outsourcing employee prepares for such a job. Friedman left out the inside into how this removal of jobs in the U.S. is going to affect the populace here, where the jobs are being taken from. Friedman states that many of the man and women who work at the call center describe them to find financial security and are able to further their education.
Meanwhile the U.S education system too many corporations, is suffering greatly, many Americans no longer find computer science as a means of finding financial security, now turn to manufacturing, and business for our financial security. As Friedman’s article states that many of the young adolescent entering the call centers already have college degrees, that benefits the U.S. as having means to obtain a financial secure job, depending on the demand for that specific field, but the Indian community even with their
