25th Myth Of Sun Worship
From what I’ve watched, the documentary is saying that Christians and Catholics don’t understand that their religion is a parody of Sun Worship. That’s all it is. Christians have taken a man whom they call "Jesus", and put him in place of the Sun, thus the “Son of God”. They then give him the same adoration that used to be given the Sun the December 25th myth is based on the WINTER SOLSTICE or REBIRTH OF THE SUN. It was the most celebrated holiday among the pagans. The pagans created Christianity. It is probably proven that almost every religion has a strikingly similar theme in its teachings. Countless deities that have so much in common with Jesus, it's at the very least very disturbing. All religious systems are obviously based on myths …show more content…
Religions served this purpose very well considering events of the last 2000 years. The documentary doesn’t fight against a god, just religion. I don’t attend church or pray but I do believe that there is a greater being out there but I must say, even if there is no god and everything is based strictly on astrology. You cannot deny the fact religion has brought out some of the best in people. These kinds of films tie my head in knots. I have in a debate with myself because I have points of agreements and disagreements.
My disagreements with the documentary are as follows. The problem with a lot of this is that there are historical texts that speak of Jesus and texts that prove the existence of all of these 12 disciples and Jesus. For this stuff to hold water all of these men would have to be fictional and they are not. Have you guys ever thought of the Israelites in Egypt long before Christianity and the other religions and Egyptian’s religion...and that they wrote the history of what God did before and that they prophesized from God the later coming of Jesus when they were there in Egypt? Maybe the Egyptians copied them after Moses set the Israelites free and the Egyptians tried to look upon the same God except they messed

This video has some mistakes, but not all of the information is wrong. The bottom line is that religion serves as device to control and divide people (example: YouTube). Humans like to think of themselves as separate from nature. In the past we've created things such as the supernatural... simply because we can't explain them. The best example is a "GOD”, because He is supernatural He automatically applies Himself outside of natural laws, so therefore he needs no explanation. Isn't that too easy? How can millions of people think that there are only two places you can go after death (heaven & hell), when earth is just a microscopic spec in this vast universe. Heaven is reward and hell is punishment, which are human concepts. I have a personal "theory", everything in existence is made up of cosmic dust and when life on earth dies it simply returns to the planet while the rest of the world carries on. It’s simple and makes sense. It’s just not as beautiful as religious ideas. Anyone who understandsthe history of astrology from ancient Mesopotamia knows that everything even remotely religious is based on it. Now I understand why Christians have always been against astrology. They tell people that the zodiac is evil and part of the occult so that people wouldn't learn this truth. I do think the maker of this video is looking at itmetaphorically, maybe he's just showing that there is evidence proving God is not real, or

The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson depicts the final twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem. This Movie is hardly a historical documentary. It was designed to bring to life the vivid nature and magnitude of Jesus’s sacrifice, although theologically it was quite accurate, it does contain some historical discrepancies. This movie was accurate in its cinematic portrayal of the attitude and actions of Pilate, the Jewish hierarchy, the Jewish laws, and Jesus’s sacrifice. Almost all of the characters in this movie are theologically accurate, like the Jesus of Nazareth, His Mother Mary, His Apostles, Mary Magdalene, Pilate and his wife and etc.,…

Christopher Hitchens’ New Atheist novel, “God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything” written in 2007, highlights everything that is wrong with religion, and how its effects are detrimental to society. Hitchens critiques Christianity, Judaism, and even Hinduism and Buddhism, for their atrocities and blasphemous beliefs and makes a very valid point as to why many individuals have turned away from religion. Though quite persuasive in some cases, other times the novel makes points that seem weak or trivial in regards to the “evilness” of religion. Each chapter of Hitchens’ book emphasizes a certain wrongdoing religion has committed, or how religion has poisoned society.…

The tone of this documentary is sort of dark in a way. Not mysterious, but it’s apparent that the director’s cut out and made things look as if they were darker and more intense than they probably really were. Also, the children in the Documentary look as if they are heavily influenced by the family members and ministers around them. They seem to have no choice and aren’t exposed to any other religion or ideals.…

I enjoyed watching the videos, and the ones that stood out to me were the After Religion, Astrophysics and Religion, What is Art for?, What is Literature for?, What is Philosophy for?, What is History for?, and The Value of Forgotten Ideas. I found it very interesting that in the After Religion video, the message was to show that the real challenge with religion is to learn from it so that we can live fulfilled lives by replacing the things that religion was made up to provide. The thing that stood out to me about the Astrophysics and Religion video was the connect between astrophysics and religion. This connection was explained by the awe both concepts show and the concept kindness…

Most modern scholarship has roundly rejected any historical basis for the travels of Jesus to India or Tibet or influences between the teachings of Christianity and Buddhism, and has seen the attempts at parallel symbolism as cases of parallelomania which exaggerate the importance of trifling resemblances.[9][10][11][12]…

Religion is not logical because of the ridiculous tales. For instances The Great Flood (Noah’s ark). The world is 71% of water("Could Noah's Ark Really Have Happened?" ), the amount of water on Earth is impossible for the great flood covering the whole world. Noah’s ark cannot be built even by the greatest boat builder’s. Reason why the boat would fold in half and twist because the amount of pressure of the water. Another story that is impossible is the story about Adam and Eve. The first thing that should tell you that this cannot happen is that a man was made out of sand and the woman was made out of the man’s rib, nowhere in life does the show that we can be made out of sand. The next thing that should tell that this is ludicrous is that there is a talking snake that tells Adam and Eve to eat the apple. The tales told in the bible are not smart and could not happen.…

Religious Believers have a better understanding of how the universe and mans place in it was set up, but it's hard for people to understand correctly because it's not in scientific terms, it's in myths and metaphors. You can't see it with our available scientific instruments, it's something you experience. Religious Believers have direct guidance from their Holy texts, e.g. for the Jewish faith, the Torah on how to live their life. They are taught, by the Ten Commandments, that they are not to steal, not to commit adultery and not to murder.…

The major theme that is in this documentary is self explanatory which is arguing that the earth is flat. This documentary and our class in my point of view both have a smilier theme. A simple answer is that they both discuss myths. For example in the documentary, Mark discusses that the Earth is flat and tries providing many points of proof and in class we had earlier talked about the Lion Gate in Argolid, Greece. According to Greek mythology, the Lion Gate was built by cyclops because physically it would have been impossible for human men to have raised such heavy stone to create the arch by themselves. A long time ago and still to this day, there is some debate that the Earth may be flat and not round even though there has been plenty of…

    Apollo God of the Sun

Apollo God of the sun, Hermes God of messaging, which is just what movie franchises have blown out of proportion and lead us to believe, a fallacy of what their true character is. Before the Greek era Apollo was know as Lycian meaning “wolflike” this could have meant that he was the protector of shepherds from wolves or had some divine connection with wolves. And also seen with a bow he would also be referenced as the archer god yet he had no connection to hunters, but was know for plagues. His arrows shafts contained death itself and when shot from the heavens they were unseen and unlucky to those who crossed paths with it. Apollo was most notable for the third eye he gave to certain mortals especially his oracle at Delphi and even more notable for his musical skills on the lyre. In our definition of Greek myth Apollo was the God of Shamans, giving knowledge to mortals through prophecy that gave them the ability’s of healing and with his additional musical skills to society he was the ideal young aristocrat of ancient Greek time to look up too. On the other hand his brother Hermes was a complete opposite of his older brother. Hermes was associated with travel in ancient Greek time; for a safe journey travelers would throw rocks into a pile and with this function he also protected thieves and anyone else who paid tribute to his protection. Hermes name can be translated to “herma= Stone heap” and “ bad guys” , stone heap for obvious reasons people would toss rocks into a pile for safe journeys and bad guys because he was also know for his trickery. In The Homeric Hymn To Hermes it states that “Maia’s infant was clever, a swindler, a robber, a liar, rustler of cattle, fast talker, burglar and cracker of safes” Hermes from this passage is not the ideal aristocrat to look up too. Both Apollo and Hermes were sons of Zeus both Gods were opposite in their nature and duties. Apollo is the “aristoi” a medicine man, noble, young, rich, established, righteous, musical,…

    Morality In Religion

    • 1738 Words

Religion is based on what people believe rather than the actual truth. We are used to being a shell of the religious norm with no attempt to research. Religion in our perspective, depending on our beliefs, is a tradition. For example, my religious belief is Christianity. We believe that if we “sin” we don’t repent, we die and go to “hell”. We are so accustomed to this belief that if we see an atheist or another person of the same or different religion “sinning” we judge. We say “Oh! They’re drinking, partying, having kids out of wedlock. They’re going to “hell”.” But in their religious state what they are doing might not be so bad. Do we know if that “sin’ is really a “sin”? or are we just going by the “Holy Bible” without doing research to obtain factual evidence? We are afraid to seek the truth and/or fear punishment from our “God” due to going against he/she. Word of advice, it never hurts to find the truth, your claims may be correct or incorrect but you will gain a broader knowledge, and break the mental religious…

Mlomeister has given me a link to this site. One day I am not going to get so angry at these types of things. It’s a fact of life and an age-old issue, one that is almost pointless to fight and refute because it is an incredibly emotional topic and requires a lot time and effort to understand. Not only that, but there are hundreds and hundreds of sites like this, each one gathering information from each other so they’ve created their own religion against religion. Not too many people will delve into the ‘why’s and how’s of things like this, it’s way easier to just nod and shake your fist, close your eyes and form your opinions without doing anything to make sure that your opinions are based on literal fact, on truth. I was definitely, definitely one of those people. The negative bandwagon is so easy to jump on too, who wants to look into something they are scared of the answers too anyways? Answers to these things means we have to give up control to a God who clearly has judged man, using death.…

The sun and the moon are powerful beings that bring life and death to all living creatures. They control when it is day or night, which season it is, and the weather. They fascinate humans and a considerable amount of mythology has been dedicated to the creation of the sun and moon and why or how they travel across the sky during the day and night. This paper will discuss and compare some of these myths and the gods attributed to their care and existence.…

An example of this is an inmate, Tiffany Doggett, she was arrested for shooting a nurse in an abortion clinic after she ‘disrespected’ Doggett for having a fifth abortion. “They should give you a loyalty card, 5 stamps and the next ones free.” When Doggett arrives to her trial after the shooting there are hordes of religious protesters there to support her, because they believe she is doing the lord's work by killing an abortion worker. Stunned with the support from the abortion protestors, she turns to religion. I found this showed me more about the world in the sense that it conveyed the different ways and reasons why people turn to religion. Throughout the rest of the series, Doggett preaches the word of the lord, and at several points believes that god is helping her to heal people because of her faith. This shows the lengths that people go when they believe in something, and how religion can blind people to the truth, because they can be too caught up on what they have faith…
