Are entrepreneurs born or made?
To start off, it is said that 50 percent of our thoughts and actions are genetically due to our heritage, while the other 50 percent comes from what we take from our environment and what has been conditioned unto us at an early age. Generally speaking, are we really made to do anything so specifically? From the said facts, it can be argued that certain qualities are embedded in us though our genetic makeup. Many believe our personalities, traits, and quirks are somewhat dictated from our parents’ gene pool. Having the right kind of personality or characteristics are crucial to being a good entrepreneur. However, can’t personalities be shaped through our ability to adopt and adapt to our environment or life events?
Before explaining further, it is best to understand the crucial qualities that should be acquired by successful entrepreneurs. It is to have unwavering passion, open mindedness, a forward thinking approach to life, ambition and to be risk-taking. These qualities may not always be inherited, although they can be conditioned unto us at an early age through parenting on education.
Based on the article, Hussain was not born into a family of entrepreneurs. He was forced into the business field at an early age, not due to passion or interest, but by his mere ambition to support his family’s finances. Despite not enjoying his childhood, growing up, his ambition and desire to earn more revenue peaked when he discovered the potential of garnering more profit through selling books. With help and guidance from his uncle, a good relationship with fellow sellers and customers at the market, his open mindedness and desire to learn allowed his business to grow. Another attribute that made Hussain a successful entrepreneur was his forward thinking approach. Learning from past mistakes, he managed to foresee future problems and tackled them the best way he knew how. His forward thinking also gave him the idea of benefiting from

The way people behave can not be genetically determined, right?! Nature and nurture are the movers and shapers, they make us what we are today, according to Harris, J. (1998)2 . Nature versus nurture is a much discussed topic, in psychology as well. There are a lot of theories about the question if we were formed by our genes or the environment where we live. Some psychologists argue that only one side has their impact like John Locke from the nature-side, while I believe it is an interaction between two of these factors, both of them have their influence on the development of that type of…

Through time, psychologists have argued over whether only our genes control our behaviors in life or if the environment and the people surrounding us have any effect in our lives. This is called nature versus nurture. We do not know what dictates our behavior, or if it is a combination of both. One question is, if genes control our behavior, are we really responsible for our actions? I think that if we can make choices we are responsible for our actions. While or genes influence various aspects of our personalities, there is no denying that our environment has some effects too. Our genes make us, but our experiences and our surroundings shape the way we behave as people. The people we grow up with, especially our…

Evolution really does shape us into whatever we are predisposed to becoming, for instance, "Fraternal twins--who share roughly 50% of their genes--to those of identical twins--who share 100% of their genes. In these early twin studies, very consistent effects emerged that suggested one thing: when it comes to personality, genes matter." (Kraus, Michael: "Do Genes Influence Personality?"). It is true of genes influencing our personality. For example, me and my brother have identical personalities, we like and dislike common things. Nature definitely has some kind of power in…

It can be said that genes make important contributions to a persons’ personality. In fact Ekart and Voland (2000), stated that “Learning is a biologically detailed, regulated and frequently narrowly limited process, and therefore human beings cannot be unlimitedly malleable” (pg. 197). It seems that he feels that the explanation for learning is biologically set in our genes and that we are only capable of learning a limited amount of information (Ekart & Voland, 2000). LeDoux (1998), also says that “we are born with a hefty dose of programmed synaptic links” (pg. 88). He goes on to say that these synapses are the processes that show us who we are (LeDoux, 1998). Eric Lorenzen (2001), tells us that there is substantial evidence to show us that “human behaviors have genetic links” (pg. 45).…

I believe that personality is developed from several different factors. Our genetics plays a part in our personality because certain ideas and beliefs can be passed down from our family genetics however; I believe that this is the less influential part. Our environment plays a bigger role in personality because depending on who or what we are around will determine what standards we set for our self. If I am raised with the environment that is violent and chaotic, then I am going to be raised with the belief that this type of behavior is acceptable and will mimic what I am taught. The same goes if I am raised in a caring and loving environment then I will mimic those behaviors and my personality will reflect that as well. With environment playing a factor in our personality it also means that my consequence to my behavior will be pleasurable or painful therefore, I will react and act accordingly to avoid pain and promote pleasure.…
