2 Years from Now
2 Years Two years from now I see myself in a State University. I am a Full time student at Cerritos College. I am here because I want to be successful in life. I want to prove my children that even though being a full time student, mother, and obtaining a full time job is hard but I can still accomplish my dream goals. There isn’t anything in this world that can stop me from going to school and graduating from a state university. I am majoring in Business Administration. I had previously graduated in 2008 from a technical school from which I obtained my Certification in Medical Administrative Assistant; the course was 8 months long. I had fun taking this course because I can work in both Regular office and in the Medical field as well. I held my first job in an Optometry office, as I was there I was thinking about furthering my education in Administration, but I didn’t really know how. I was unaware of college. I didn’t know how college was; all I knew is that I couldn’t afford to go to college. But I was wrong. I give thanks to my cousin Junior for letting me know how college works if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be where I am right now. I am half ways in finishing school and obtaining my Associates Degree. I want to transfer to Cal State L.A. or Cal State Fullerton. I’m not quite sure what University to go to at the moment. By me going to a University and obtaining my degrees I want to work for big companies. A company I have in mind would be Kaiser Permanente, US Bank, or even Apple Corporation. Working in one of these companies would be a dream come true because I know that even though I’m struggling right now things will fall into place and get better for me and my family, everything will pay off in the end. I will be very proud of myself when I get there, and I know for a fact that I would look back and say that this was a huge mission to accomplish. I may have many things going on in my life but one thing for sure is that I’m grateful to have full

During my current four years of high school, I have come to a conclusion that life is hard and the decisions you make are very important. This is my last year of high school and I’m the first one to graduate from my family. My grandmother tends to tell me that I don’t need college just a simple 7 month course of medical assistant or dentist assistant and not waste any more money. I’m lost, I wish people could help me out and tried to guide me in the direction of the right decision but is my life and choices. There has been times that my grandmother has told me that I am not going to be somebody in the future.…

My entire life has been centered around starting my career and getting to do what I love. I want to help people. That is why I’ve worked so hard throughout school, I want to be successful in my life goals. This can be seen in the academic history I have. For example, I have a 4.1 GPA, a 28 on my ACT and I have over 100 hours of volunteer work. I’ve devoted a large amount of time to my community and I’ve always wanted to be a positive person who helps others in any way I can. I have also committed to my career, I attend Summit Technology Academy for Pre- Professional nursing and I will graduate with my CNA. I hope to go straight into my area of choice and work at a hospital, right out of high school. Overall, I have…

After high school in not sure what exactly what I want to do, but I have two colleges in mind. My first choice is Berks Technical Institute, where I would study to be a medical assistant. One reason why I’m debating on that profession is because not everyone is looking for a medical assistant, and I don’t want to study something if its going to turn out pointless. My plan B will be, the arts institute of Philadelphia, where I would like to study culinary arts, I have a serious passion for cooking and baking. My plan C will be getting a job with my uncle if any of this does not go as planned. Medical assistants work with physicians, mainly in outpatient care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. If I were to go into that field my day would consist of Answering telephones, Updating and filing patient medical records, Coding and filling out insurance forms, Scheduling appointments and Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services. Starting pay right out of college for medical assistants would be $10.14 an hour. Additional education is not mandatory but would also be nice to move up to a registered nurse, which they get paid a better wage. Some obstacles I would have to over come to pursue my dreams into going into this profession would be, being more social with others, I will over come these obstacles slowly because I am a very closed and shy person. Also, if my plans do not work of for college as I stated earlier, I will work in the construction field as a back up plan. I came to this decision when I took a course back in the 10th grade for home decorating, and I loved it although I had to drop it off my schedule because I was short a couple of credits. My day would start off by making a couple of phone calls to find out when shipments are coming in such as power tools, drywall…

It’s easy to make a goal rather than to achieve it. However, with determination one can succeed in accomplishing it. I have accomplished one of many goals in my list and that's to attend college. In my family not a lot attended college or even finished high school, so accomplishing this goal is a big subject of matter to my family.Getting this far is even a big accomplishment in my eye’s, especially when you break free from an assembly line of generations that never had attended college. The feeling is still overwhelming, mainly because I’m the first of many generations in my family to accomplish something big like…

I graduated high school with a 3.2 GPA and I scored fairly well on the SAT. But why didn’t I go to a university? Simply put, college has a different environment and is more sophisticated than high school, and I wanted to get accustomed to the change. I chose to go to a community college, not because my grades were horrible, but instead to acknowledge the fact I was going to be in a different scenery. I also chose this route so I could save money, and to enhance the skills necessary for a university. In the U.S. News article, “Four Types of People Who Benefit From Community College”, I see myself in the second paragraph as well as the “Students who aren’t prepared to leave the nest” type.…

My motivation to succeed in life and college starts with my ambition to want more than just a job that pays well, but a career that I love doing. I was in the navy for four years active and I loved it, but I didn’t feel fulfilled in life. Something was missing. So I made the decision to become a reservist and finish my degree and pursue my dream of becoming a Register Nurse. That dream is put on hold for now only because the school that I attended told me that even if I had all the necessary points needed, I still might not be accepted into the nursing program. I had a tough decision to make. Do I stay in this school and keep wasting time or do I go to another school and pursue something else in the medical field? That is when I decided to come to California College San Diego and pursue a degree in Medical Specialties. When I am done with this program, I would have two careers that I would enjoy doing. I would be certified in multiple areas such as: medical assistant, home health aide, pharmacy technician, nursing assistant, and medical billing and coding. Although I want to be a Register Nurse, I will use this as a stepping stool to reach my goal and dream.…

In today’s world, a college education is the cornerstone of life. Obtaining a college degree opens many doors of opportunity. These building blocks of opportunity will help shape who I am as a person. I am building a future, striving for success, and always looking to better myself. Abraham Lincoln once said “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” I have been haunted by similar words, in my own head, for quite some time. I never finished college, yet I love to learn. I have always dreamed of completing college, owning a company, or working in an office. Now, given the opportunity, completing this degree will become my greatest achievement. Until now, I have always felt that I let myself down. I’ve always had the best intentions, but life’s unexpectedness put several roadblocks in the way of me completing a degree. I graduated high school twenty-five years ago. Since then, I have raised a family and have unfulfilling employment.
