Thirteen Reasons Why goes through a series of tapes that a boy named Clay Jensen received through a girl named Hannah Baker. Hannah talks about the thirteen reasons why she killed herself throughout the cassette tapes. The majority of people on the list got a box of tapes sent to their home. She stated multiple times that she would leak the tapes if they don’t come out of it. It was later revealed that Clay received the recordings because she loved him and couldn't stand to let him not understand the thirteen reasons why. A boy named Tony was given a box of tapes to keep before Hannah killed herself and was put at task to leak them if they weren’t distributed by the people who were on the list.
