100000 Years
Summary of 100,000 Years Over a period of 100,000 years, a great deal can occur in terms of climate change and, at least in the past 100,000 years, in human development. Scientists have become increasingly aware of multi-millennial scale orbital cycles of precession, eccentricity and obliquity which can play an important role in the rise and fall of ice ages. In in Climate History we explore how during the past 100,000 years ago, human beings-- Homo sapiens - have developed from our hominid ancestors, adapting to rugged climates, such as in Europe 40,000 years ago.

Australia There is limited evidence about conditions in Australia, though lake records in Victoria suggest that conditions, at least in the South of the state, were wet and/or unusually cool. In the north of the continent, the limited evidence suggests fairly dry conditions, while coral cores from the Great Barrier Reef show similar rainfall as today but with less variability. Borehole reconstructions from Australia suggest that, over the last 500 years, the seventeenth century was the coldest in that continent, although the borehole temperature reconstruction method does not show good agreement between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
The Younger Dryas stadial, also referred to as the Big Freeze, was a geologically brief (1,300 ± 70 years) period of cold climatic conditions and drought which occurred between approximately 12,800 and 11,500 years BP. The Younger Dryas stadial is thought to have been caused by the collapse of the North American ice sheets, although rival theories have been proposed.
It followed the Bølling-Allerød interstadial (warm period) at the end of the Pleistocene and preceded the preboreal of the early Holocene. It is named after an indicator genus, the alpine-tundra wildflower Dryas octopetala.
The Dryas stadials were cold periods which interrupted the warming trend since the Last Glacial Maximum 20,000 years ago. The Older

Since the dawn of time, Homo Sapiens have developed and evolved in a short time, relative to Earth’s history, into a advanced and special civilization we know today as present day society. The beginnings of civilization 2.5 million years ago was known as the Paleolithic Age which ends at 12,000 BCE and leads directly into the Mesolithic Age which ends at 8,000 BCE. These two eras, Paleolithic Age and Neolithic Age, although share similar developments such as new technologies and dominion, they also differ in major new developments such as sedentary agriculture and pastoralization.…

    The Little Ice Age (LIA)

A D-O event is an event characterized by abrupt, large scale climatic oscillations. D-O events occur roughly every 1470 years. Moving the clock forward from the last huge Ice Age, in periods of 1470 years, then the most recent D-O event should have occurred roughly two to three hundred years ago. This happens to be when the Little Ice Age was ending. If the LIA was a D-O event Antarctica should have warmed during the LIA, when the Northern Hemisphere was cold. This means, that if evidence finds that Antartica warmed during the LIA, then it shows that the LIA was likely a D-O event. If Antartica cooled during this time, then it could mean that the LIA was more widespread than previously thought.…

Social Studies Mehdi Mihir Tuesday, September 16, 2014 729 The World before the Opening of the Atlantic At the start, of the Ice Age, earth's climate became intensely cold. Large amounts of water froze into huge, moving sheets of ice called glaciers. Abruptly, in c. 38,000-10,000 BC, the Paleo- Indians moved as nomadic bands across to the Americas in response to the rhythm of the seasons and the availability of the resources.…

Earth's climate constantly changes, and many scientists believe that the temperature rises we see in this decade are a natural phenomenon that occurs every so many years. Around 25,000 years ago, it is believed that earth was covered by large areas of ice. And then, about 7,000 years ago, temperatures began to rise and the "Ice Age" came to an end.…

In 74,000 bce Mt Toba in Sumatra erupted causing a 1,000 year ice age. It is believed at this time that the human population decreased to roughly 10,000. This is believed to have caused the southern migration into Australia and New Guinea that occurred between 74,000 bce and 65,000 bce. However when the climate began to grow warmer approximately 52,000 years ago people began migrating northward and into the Levant (Oppenheimer, 2003).…
