At age twenty-nine, he went back to college and received his degrees in art, history, and education. Shortly thereafter, he had thoughts of becoming a serious painter himself and of following his dreams. While pursuing his dream, he decided to start teaching art to college students. In his teaching period, he preferred teaching beginners because he wanted people who were wide open and without irony. He is referred to as an artist but he would rather be called a painter for his many paintings of cakes, deli counters, and ice cream. In 1990, he retired from teaching but continued to work on his art in his spare…

Andy Warhol, was the creative mind that created pop art. Andy Warhol is a Polish American artist that lived during the twentieth century. Mr. Warhol’s paintings focused on the mass production of commercial goods, as well as under minded the supposed value of art based on the uniqueness of the work. The thing that I enjoy the most about his works is the way that he incorporates silkscreen in order to produce multiples of a single image yet still manages to make each one different and unique in its own special way. He was someone that took inspiration from the people and things that surrounded him and although he was not every well received when he first started out he continued to work and became a very well-known and respected artist.…

Born in 1853, Vincent’s artistic career started in his twenties after having many different types of careers (Living with Art 11). From being a student to a preacher to a bookseller, he finally found a life of art (Van Gogh Museum). He seemed to have struggled greatly with self-esteem and self-worth, as he struggled with many women in his short time and, as his work shows, his art follows his path of self- pity and sorrow.…

While reading Three articles concerning the collapse of the maya civilization, I read about debates why the civilization fell apart. Ancient Mayan empire was approximately A.D 250 to A.D 900. The mayan Civilization once extended through out the area of Texas, southern Mexico, and Northern Central America, This includes the countries of Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras. The mayans was a very advanced civilization they had a break through in astronomy which helped them predict where the moon and planets would lay in the sky. The mayans left behind stone inscriptions and books regarding their gods, which taught us a lot about the mayan empire. A common reason the empire collapsed was drought which stopped the mayans from agriculture, and many more examples of the falling of the empire.…

It is always said that we are all predestined with a set prophecy. No matter how much one tries to escape it, our fate will always conquer. Whether it’s finding the right person who you are going to marry or the career path a person chooses, it’s all up to the decision of fate. Knowing ones fate can either uplift or destroy a person because of the path it permits the person to take. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles is a prime example of how one’s fate destroys him and he couldn’t escape it. Oedipus being the main character, gains knowledge of his horrid fate and attempts to break away from it. Because Oedipus gains knowledge of his fate and does try and run from it, he mistakenly kills his father and marries his mother, denies the truth, and blinds himself.…
